Open Enrollment for 2026-2027 is Now Open! 

Open Enrollment is the annual period when families can apply for a seat at our tuition-free public charter school. HRCS is open to all students residing in the state of Colorado, regardless of prior academic history, and enrollment is not based on neighborhood boundaries. Submitting an application during Open Enrollment places your child in consideration for enrollment. If applications exceed available seats, a random lottery is held in accordance with our Enrollment Policy.

Exciting News!

High Rockies Community School is planning to open a second campus for the 2026-2027 school year in Park County or surrounding areas. Final enrollment numbers, grade levels, and the exact location are still being finalized.  You can find out more information here.

If you are interested in learning more or would like to be considered for enrollment at the new site, please share your information here.  Your responses will help us determine the best location and program design for our expanding community.

Re-Enrollment for Current HRCS Families

Each winter, families of currently enrolled students are invited to participate in Re-Enrollment, which helps HRCS plan for the upcoming school year. During the re-enrollment window, current families complete a brief survey indicating whether they intend to commit to a seat for the following school year.

Re-enrollment occurs before Open Enrollment lotteries and allows the school to determine how many seats remain available for new students. Families who do not complete the re-enrollment survey by the stated deadline may forfeit their priority status for the upcoming year.

Admissions Timeline for the 2026-2027 School Year

How to Enroll: Click on the Apply Here button below to complete the Pre-Registration form. You will receive a confirmation email once your form is submitted. Please contact info@highrockiescommunityschool.org if you have not received a confirmation email within 3 business days.

Open Enrollment Window 1: December 8, 2025 – March 22, 2026

• Dec. 15, 2025 – Open Enrollment begins
• Feb. 1, 2026 – Re-enrollment Window opens for existing students
• Feb. 15, 2026 – Re-enrollment Window closes
• Mar. 22, 2026 – Open Enrollment closes.
• Mar. 23, 2026 – Lottery (if needed; Homeschool Enrichment lottery is after the 2nd window closes on Jun. 1, 2026)
• Mar. 23, 2026  – Notification of acceptance emailed to families (or number on the waitlist)

Open Enrollment Window 2:  May 1 – May 29, 2026

• May 1, 2026 – Open Enrollment begins!
• May 31, 2026 – Open Enrollment closes.
• Jun.1, 2026 – Lottery (if needed a lottery will be held at noon at the Fairplay Public Library) 
• Jun.1, 2026  – Notification of acceptance emailed to families (or number on the waitlist)

HRCS is a tuition-free K-8 school. HRCS is open to all students residing in the state of Colorado. Enrollment decisions shall be made in a nondiscriminatory manner without regard to disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, religion, ancestry, need for special education services, or any other protected class.

Preschool/Pre-K Program (2026-2027)

HRCS is planning on offering a Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten program for three and four-year-olds starting in the 2026-2027 School Year. This will be tuition based – more information coming soon!

Enrollment Process from HRCS Enrollment Policy:

Students will be granted priority enrollment in the following order:

1. Children of HRCS staff (not to exceed 20 percent of total enrollment)
2. Children of HRCS Founding Team members (not to exceed 20 percent of total enrollment)
3. All other applicants.

The process for priority enrollment will precede the lottery. If needed, a lottery will be used to determine the placement of students for any class for which the number of Pre-Registration forms exceeds capacity. Applicants not selected in the lottery will be placed on an order-drawn waitlist. Siblings of enrolled students for whom a seat is not available will be placed at the top of the waitlist, if applicable. Applications submitted after the enrollment period closes will be placed on the waiting list by the date of application.
